Starting January 1st, Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) will reset the cap and open applications for two caregiver pilot programs: The Home Childcare Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot under the Direct to Permanent Residence category.
These initiatives cater specifically to applicants with caregiving work experience. Launched in 2019, both pilot programs are scheduled to expire on June 17, 2024. They have gained popularity, with nearly 1,100 caregivers and their family members attaining permanent residency in 2022.
To prospective candidates meeting the eligibility criteria, IRCC recommends submitting applications at the earliest opportunity. The cap for online applicants in the Home Child Care Provider Pilot for 2023 (1,000) was reached on April 14, 2023. However, spaces are still available for the Home Support Worker Pilot in 2023, as indicated on the official website.
